When I thought up this job for the first time, even the word "pet sitter" has not existed in Japan yet.

I was an office worker and one day I left my cat to the care of a pet hotel because of two-night short trip. As my cat did not usually guard against people, I took it quite lightly. However, he stayed in the pet hotel always mewing, denying eating, and withstanding an urge to urinate and defecate. He seemed to have caused a lot of trouble to the staff of the pet hotel. He had almost no voice because he mewed too much, and looked really tired with his hair mussed-up.

I found from this experience that it is the best way for pets to stay home and be taken care of by someone visiting the home, except for the case that the pets are sick and have to stay quietly in cage. Then I came to know that many pet sitters had already been active in the United States and I thought it would be great if such services were available also in Japan. I finally decided to start this job by myself.

In April 2, 1993, Rusuban Wannyan started business as the first pet-sitting company in Japan. But it was very difficult to make the service understood by the people at that time. I did everything that I thought up such as distributing handbills and putting up a poster at a train station.

In the meantime, some media including television, newspapers, and magazines began to make a report on Rusuban Wannyan as the company offering a unique service. Besides, since our customers introduced us their acquaintances as new customers, the people gradually recognized our business. Nowadays a lot of customers are using us.

I think what our customers demand us, pet sitters, are love and kindness for animals, the experience and accumulated knowledge of breeding variety of animals. In order to be trusted by pet-owners, we have to build a relationship of trust with animals, be able to check the animals' physical condition, and be able to take appropriate countermeasures against unanticipated situation.

Rusuban Wannyan's branches are managed directly by the company. This is because I felt it was necessary that our staff cooperate with each other and implement full-scale preparation to take care of your precious family member in our hands, within the direct management network.

We wish to make a society where both people and animals can live in happiness together through our service. If you have any troubles with training or upbringing of pets, please feel free to contact us. We will be happy to lend a hand.
